Published on 18.04.2025

In Mykolaiv, the surgical department of City Children’s Hospital No. 2 has undergone a complete renovation. This was made possible through financial support from the Government of Taiwan and the charitable foundation SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine.

The department is fully equipped to provide high-quality medical care and post-operative recovery for young patients. It features two ultra-modern operating rooms fitted with advanced equipment that meets contemporary standards. The bright and comfortable patient rooms are furnished with modern beds, each equipped with an oxygen supply. The department also includes a centralized air conditioning system and well-appointed workspaces for medical staff.

The process of commissioning the department is currently underway, and it will be opened in the near future.

“The renovation was fully funded by charitable contributions provided by the Government of Taiwan back in 2022. The total cost of the project was about 18 million UAH. Today, this is the most modern department in the city, fully compliant with all requirements for such medical facilities. We look forward to welcoming our young patients here so they can receive high-quality care in a comfortable environment,” said Iryna Shamray, Head of the Mykolaiv Health Department.

Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych visited the renovated department. He expressed gratitude to everyone who made this transformation possible and presented letters of appreciation.

Among the awardees was Tamila Buhaienko, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Public Sector Workers, whose efforts helped attract international funding for the renovation. A letter of gratitude was also awarded to the SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine foundation for providing the surgical equipment and for their comprehensive support of the hospital.

Acknowledgment was also extended to Serhii Bashynskyi, who worked as a logistics specialist at the beginning of the project and is now serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to the construction company Antares-BUD, which carried out the project.

Mayor Sienkevych also thanked the entire hospital staff for their dedicated care for every young patient and praised the administration for its ongoing efforts to improve the hospital’s facilities.
