The renovation of a dormitory for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mykolaiv has been completed. Thanks to this, about 200 people who lost their homes due to the war will have a reliable shelter. The renovation was funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The dormitory is located in the Zavodskyi district. Since December 2023, new metal-plastic windows have been installed in the rooms, and the walls, ceilings, and floors have been renovated. Additionally, common areas such as kitchens, toilets, showers, and corridors have been refurbished.
However, not only the renovation work but also the equipment of the premises were important aspects of the dormitory's preparation.
To improve the living conditions of the displaced persons, the Danish Refugee Council donated 133 units of household appliances, including microwaves, gas stoves, irons and ironing boards, dryers, kettles, and a Smart TV for the future recreation room.
